Power Tool Drag Racing

People can be very creative when it comes to developing new competitive activities. In most cases, the resulting sport is unusually entertaining, extremely strange, or tremendously funny. One of these newly introduced sports is power tool drag racing, which made its advent in the United Kingdom. To join the race, the participants are required to fit their favourite fastest-spinning power tools in modified rigs that turn them into mean machines that can run on a specially-designed 75-foot drag strip. The rigs can be made out of any material and built in any design. Thus, in this race, you can see supercharged circular saws on wheels, awesomely-fast weed cutters on wheel stands, or roaring belt sanders on skis.

There are several prizes that participants can win. These include awards for the tool having the most impressive engineering or the most pathetic design. There are even strange awards for the machine that is most likely to impress women or the one that is involved in the most spectacular crash. Just like other races, several classes of machines are utilized in the competition. A perfect example is the "funny car" class in which a human-driven racing unit has to carry a driver down the strip - but the vehicle must be driven only with power tools. Over the past few years, strange machines have been made such as chainsaw-driven go-carts or angle-grinder-powered motorcycles. Aside from racing, there are also other activities that entertain spectators. For example, do-it-yourself enthusiasts may head out to the power tool exhibit organised by sponsors. And, in some cases, race organisers may even have a car show, knowing that lots of auto-lovers will be attending the race.
